Production & Manufacturing

Stop pricing your products from a guess

For bakers, food and drink makers, garment, soap and furniture makers, and small factories.

Raw materials go in, finished goods come out, and the cost of each batch lands in your accounts.

10,000+ businesses run on Simplebks. 14-day trial, no card.

Production and manufacturing software for Nigerian SMEs

Simplebks runs your production in the same app as your sales, stock and books. Raw materials go in, finished goods come out, and the cost of every batch lands in your accounts without a spreadsheet in between.

Production comes with the Professional plan. The Enterprise plan adds advanced production: budgeted batches, budgeted material requests with approvals, stage moves with a quality verdict, subcontracting, shared material pools and scrap. See pricing for what each plan includes.

It is for bakers, food and drink processors, garment makers, cosmetics and soap producers, furniture workshops and small factories that want to know what each batch costs, and who price from a guess today.

Recipes you can recost

Build a recipe (bill of materials) for each product: what goes in, how much, and what it costs. Recipes can run several levels deep, for products made from parts you also make.

A new recipe goes through submit and approve before it's used, and you can recost it whenever raw material prices move.

From raw material to finished stock

Quick Batch records a run in one step: the materials used, the products made, and optional scrap, waste and extra costs. It goes for approval before it posts, finished goods go into stock and the cost goes into your books. What to make next shows open pre-orders and invoices and products below their reorder level, and a suggestion can become a planned production order. Value on hand shows raw materials, work in progress and finished goods right now.

Know what each batch really cost

Overhead is charged into each batch at a predetermined rate, with a month-end true-up posted once an approver signs it off.

A cost card shows each product's real cost against the estimate, and a cost-variance report shows where a run went over.

Pay contract staff from what they produced

Add production workers, see what each is owed from their batches, and record what you pay. The wage payroll spreads the wage bill across the period's approved batches.

Close each production period when you're done so the numbers stay put. This is pay for production contract staff tied to what they made, not a general HR payroll.

Take orders before you make them

Take a pre-order from a customer, with an optional deposit. The demand list (your bake list, if you're a bakery) adds up open pre-orders into what to produce next.

Deliver, invoice, and the deposit is applied automatically.

Advanced production (Enterprise)

Enterprise adds budgeted batches with a work board showing every batch at its stage, and material requests with approvals: the floor requests, a supervisor approves, the store issues, excess is returned.

It also adds stage moves with a quality verdict, subcontracting, shared material pools and scrap, and batch review and close with the cost closed out to your books.

FAQ

Do I need a separate app for recipes and production costs?

No. Recipes, production runs and their cost live in Simplebks, connected to your sales, stock and books.

Does Simplebks track lot numbers and expiry dates?

Yes. Lot and expiry tracking for stock is on Professional and up. The Trace and recall screen searches a batch reference or lot number and shows what went into a batch and what it made. The production lot ledger, which follows raw lots into finished lots with a warning for lots about to expire, is on Enterprise.

Can I send part of my production to a subcontractor?

Yes, on Enterprise. Send a stage out and receive the finished work back into the batch.

How do I pay contract production staff?

Add your production workers, see what each is owed from the batches they worked on, and record your payments. The wage payroll spreads the wage bill across the approved batches produced in that period. This covers production contract staff only, not general HR payroll.

Can I take orders before I make the product?

Yes, on Professional and up. Take a pre-order with an optional deposit, and the demand list shows what to produce next.

Is scrap part of my finished-goods cost?

On a Quick Batch, no: scrap and waste are posted to a production wastage account and kept out of the finished-goods cost. On Enterprise batches, normal scrap is absorbed into the batch cost and abnormal scrap is written off.
